Recently, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP) delivered a mobile air traffic control tower to Kąkolewo airport. The tower was previously set up and connected to the power supply, and today it was linked to the PIONIER scientific optical network. The tower is equipped with a receiver for ADS-B compliant signals. Thanks to the installation of miniaturized transponders on the drones participating in the Dronefest (Droniada) competition from June 28 to July 4, 2021, the positions of the competition drones will be visible in the PansaUTM system. The receiver's sensitivity also allows for visualizing passenger traffic at standard cruising altitudes.
It is worth noting that the Pansa UTM system is a pioneering initiative in Europe that coordinates the movement of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It is the first operationally deployed system in Europe managing UAV flights, and it won the prestigious ATM Award 2020 last year. PCSS is working with PAŻP on the development of this system and its future versions.
