Aerosfera Project

In May 2019, during an aviation picnic celebrating the centenary of the Poznań Aeroclub, the Aerosfera Project was inaugurated in the presence of the Marshal of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, representatives of the Polish Armed Forces, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, and local authorities. This project, implemented by the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center and Poznań University of Technology, is supported by economic partners— the Poznań Aeroclub and the company LARS. It aims to create infrastructure that will enable research and development activities and establish a center for modern aviation technologies in Kąkolewo.

Among the initiated activities, the construction of a hangar with a laboratory and research facility for R&D work is particularly noteworthy. Parallel to the construction, tender procedures are underway to purchase laboratory equipment.

The facility will include not only a machine park for prototyping mechanical solutions but also specialized machines for processing carbon fiber materials, components for building experimental flying platforms, and measuring equipment. All these elements, along with testing space, will form a comprehensive solution for developing innovative service solutions.

The Aerosfera Project is co-financed by the Marshal's Office of the Greater Poland Voivodeship from the funds of the Greater Poland Operational Program for 2014-2020 and the European Regional Development Fund. The leader of the project is Poznań University of Technology, with economic partners including the Poznań Aeroclub named after Wanda Modlibowska and the company LARS.
